Our Standard Wood Species
The wood we use for engraving our products comes from sustainable forests!
The majority of the wood Unique Custom Products uses for manufacturing comes from the Appalachian Mountains and the Cascade Mountains. Both mountain ranges have been verified as sustainable. In fact, due to advanced stewardship methods there is actually more harvestable lumber today than there was 100 years ago.
The Appalachian Forest grows Oak, Maple, Cherry and Walnut. For every tree that is harvested in the 344 county Appalachian Region, 2.29 more trees are growing. This research was released by the US Forest Service.
The wood we use out of the Cascades is Alder and Birch. The companies supplying this product are Washington Alder LLC, Cascade Hardwood LLC and Port Angeles Hardwood LLC. They are part of the SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) which practices a land stewardship ethic of principles, objectives and performance measures that integrates best management practices and forest practice rules and regulations. Our ultimate green wood comes from Northern Colorado. Blue stain pine is also referred to as beetle kill pine and it is harvested from trees that have fallen naturally. The wood has been kiln dried and provides a unique wood with a one of a kind blue tint.
